Playing on chess.com is convenient. However, there is nothing more exciting than sitting across froma board with a real human being. Chess was meant to be played in person. For thousands of years that was the only way it was played. If you are looking to meet other chess lovers, then this is a updated list of places you can play over the board.
Some of our favorites at to play chess in and around Decatur:
- Decatur Parks and Rec — They meet in the Aquadome every Thursday 6PM - 7PM. It just started back up, and the attendance is growing. There are kids and adults that come, and all skill levels.
- Huntsville Chess Club — Meets Tuesdays (4:30–7 PM, 7901-L Bailey Cove Rd SE), Thursdays (5–7 PM, 4600 Blue Spring Rd NW), and Fridays (4:30–7 PM, 3770 Ivy Ave SW)
- UAH Chess Club — Meets Monday nights (6–10 PM) at the University IHOP on University Dr.
